If you are interested in volunteering for The Americas Foundation/Fundacion de las Americas,
there are many areas where help is needed
1. If your interest is construction (don't worry about being a beginner),there are organized work days.
Two Saturdays a month volunteers meet at 8:30 A.M. at the H St. trolley station parking lot in
Chula Vista (just off the I-5 South). The volunteers get directions and/or carpool to the School.
We are having a special program La Rosa Blanca for three days in July, the 8th to the 11th.
Also, we are planning a planting day for July 31st where we need to coordinate the efforts of students from
around the world (a Sister Cities Project).
2. We have a number of students that have emotional/social problems, specifically because they do not live with their mothers. These
children need some special attention. If you would like to work with these children as a tutor and/or big sister we can coordinate your efforts.
3. Christine's class of '79 has raised some money for
a project. They are interested in supporting the school's computer laboratory.
If you would like to help us expand our capabilities (ie. buying/finding
used computers and evaluating educational software), it would be helpful.
4. We need to link our website to more lists on the internet and help to maintain the site.
We always need volunteers to surf the internet and find appropriate links.
5. We are looking for someone to coordinate athletic activities on Saturdays for the children, ie. manage a soccer or volleyball club.
During a Saturday work day, if you visit the school it is easier to direct your efforts. You can also call Christine E. Brady by phone at: 011-5266-264698
Thank you for your interest!
